On Angels Wings by Heather Adams Historical Romance} Alone and on the run from a father who wants to sell her into prostitution, all Angela has to comfort her is the partially completed picture of a wolf. She finds comfort in the dark eyes, a promise of great things to come but is always aware of her mother's deathbed warning - the picture would only be complete when Angela was too. Angela is rescued by Monroe, the man who has the same dark eyes as the wolf. Their love is destined to be for how can Monroe resist his Angel who brings light and happiness to his household and a smile to his blind father's face. But their path to happiness won't be an easy one. War, a jealous servant with a passion for Monroe and the challenges of society life soon come between them but Angela will fight for the man of her dreams.
On Angels Wings Heather Adams has been added to my list of favorite authors. Her writing is beautifully poetic and old-fashioned,perfectly suited to the era she has chosen. ON ANGELS WINGS is a charming romantic adventure that crosses oceans and boundaries in an effort to make Angela's dreams come true. I had a hard time putting this book down which resulted in quite a few sleepless nights. It's a long story but you won't notice as you're swept along on a tide of emotion, enthralled by their adventures and totally in love with the well-developed characters. Five stars for Ms Adams. On Angels Wings Star crossed lovers, Duke Monroe Enderby who fancies himself an adventurer like his hero Odysseus, and Angela Anderson, an equally adventuresome girl, find themselves on opposite sides of the Atlantic, separated by scorned servant Polly. Monroe begins his own twenty year Odyssey before he can be reunited with his beloved.

Son Of The Wolf
K.M. Go ahead, try to put SON OF THE WOLF down!
I didn't lose quite as much sleep reading Heather Adams' 'Son of the Wolf' as I did with the first novel in this four-part saga, 'On Angels Wings' - but that's only because, at 272 pages, it is shorter than the first book. However, I still found myself saying sleepily, "Ok, I just have to read one more chapter to find out what happens next." Ms. Adams is adept at surprising the reader with unexpected plot twists. She makes the growing Enderby family, their friends - and their enemies! - so real as to evoke emotion even on seeing the characters' names.
The time period covered in this sequel is narrower; the action is focused on the conflicts that arise not only between the British and the American Colonists, but between Loyalists and Patriots of the Revolutionary War years. Ms. Adams has a real gift for combining historical events and figures (e.g. George Washington, Benedict Arnold) with her vividly portrayed fictional characters. In just a few sentences she brings each scene to life with her descriptions, whether of the action on a pirate ship, the danger of a spy mission, or the everyday chores and challenges of life in a colonial homestead.
If you haven't read 'On Angels Wings', you will find that Ms. Adams does a good job of filling in enough background for you to get a sense of events and people who were important in that first book. If you do read 'Son of the Wolf' first, I guarantee you will end up with a desire to go back and see what you missed in 'On Angels Wings'. Personally I enjoy reading from a physical book, but I understand that Ms. Adams' books are available on Kindle and on Nook eReaders. I hope her work also becomes available as a series of movies. Reading her writing is like watching a movie in your head - but it would be fun to see it on the big screen!
